According to statistics from the MOA, in H1 2014, export volume of pesticides in China reached 893,000 tonnes with an export value of USD4,667 million. It is worth noting that export value of pesticide formulations in China accounts for 44.8% of China's total export value, increasing by 4.4 percentage points year on year.

From 18 July to 20 July, 2014, Typhoon Rammasun, the ninth typhoon of the 2014 pacific typhoon season, landed in three provinces of South China and Yunnan Province and has brought a great impact on the local residents' normal life and agricultural production. According to the Civil Affairs Bureaus of each relevant province, up to 9 a.m. in 23 July, 2014, the typhoon has affected 1.91 million ha of crops cultivation area. Banana and sugarcane were damaged the most seriously by Typhoon Rammasun and are badly in need of agricultural materials for rehabilitation.

Forecast on occurrence tendency of serious pests and diseases in H2 2014--diseases

On 18 July, 2014, the NATESC released an announcement announcing that it was predicted that in H2 2014 pests and diseases of China's crops would occur severely in general. Its occurrence area would reach 153.07 million ha, increasing by 4.6% than that in the same period of last year. In particular, rice blast may break out in some areas, rice sheath blight may occur heavily in most parts of the rice cultivation areas in southern China, corn leaf blight would occur severely, potato late blight would occur seriously in parts of the Northwest China and North China and cotton verticillium wilt as well as boll rot would occur moderately.
